Ran this thing with a 22lb bird and it was too big. I did a displacement check before hand but the bubbling and churning cause a few cups of oil to overflow. That being said the bird finished just fine and worked but i made a mess. If you are sure you won't have overflow issues indoor is fine. In my case mine was used outdoors. The max fill line is variable depending on the size of the thing being fried so do displacement checks with water and whatever you are cooking beforehand.
